Firstly, mint image. I love it. Newcastle is also a city not far from myself where I concentrate quite a few of my photo's on.... so that must be a cool place for a start. And, as regarding this being a photomontage, I would find it highly likely that this is the original location for the noose - it's VERY much like the location of gibbets on the countryside areas of our county, where they would be quite close to the road or track on a hillside. That way it served as a visible warning for some distance, but wasn't stuck too near to a town or village centre where it would have to be looked at every day. Also, the fence and smaller trees look very much in relevance to the rest of the landscape, and the big tree has obviously grown putting up with the same weather - look at how they all lean and have grown the same way......
