My motherboard supports up to 3 or 4 GB of RAM at 266 MHz. It's a Gigabyte 7DXR. It's not a very expensive board but it does support AMD AthlonXP processors. The maximum RAM support of a motherboard is set by the BIOS I think. The same thing goes for Processor support. For instance my father had an old 133MHz Pentium and we could only upgrade it to 233MHz pentium max. although there were 700MHz processors wich could run on mainboards with 100 MHz bus-speed but they didn't work at the old motherboard.
