Hi, does anyone know of a good site where you can hire space to upload files? I want to be able to upload my stuff and then give people a downloadlocation. I already tried a few, but every time I found out that the persons that I wanted to be able to download, need to have an account there too:-( So I am looking for a place to hire filespace ( around 100 mb) and then be able to let others download my stuff without letting them become a member first at the site! Can anybody help me? Thanks, Dalinise limit@wanadoo.nl

Hi Dalinese, Can't that be done with a web provider that has ftp access/download??? I've seen a couple with ftp download that are fairly inexpensive <15/month---with pretty high bandwidth..usually 3-5gig or so.

dal, can;t you just create a simply web page that has links to the items and see if people can get to them that way? On the other hand, this could be for personal storage rather then file sharing.

If it's for testing and not for the public, Whale Mail's got a subscription plan too, that didn't seem too expensive. That is if you don't want to put up a site.

I assume that we are talking .zip here Any free or payed site that would allow .zips (some dont ) could be used. Most of these sites have quite a bit of storage space. Give each of your .zips a long random alpanumeric name ( hrtreh834gr94 gfjgr09re.zip) Email the url to customer http://www.mysite.com/hrtreh834gr94 gfjgr09re.zip That way you can keep a track on what is going on ??

I've just started hosting stuff specifically for renderosity free download. The issue isn't really storage space, that's dirt cheap, it's the bandwidth. I'll be ready to go "commercial" in a week or two once a few more details are worked out (need automate and test a bit more.) If you're interested, shoot me a note at john@geekantics.net. If you've got an idea about how much bandwidth you'll need, include that also. Good luck!
