We too often think of portraits as just the face, ignoring the portraits of Madame X, the wedding couple, and so many others. American Gothic is a portrait and would lose much of its meaning if the focus was narrowed to just their heads. However, when entering contests or pleasing clients, we need to consider what they mean when the rules/parameters are established. Meanwhile, this is lovely work.
