a BUM file can be worked on by changing the extention fro bum to .bmp Then bring it into your editing program, conver to greayscale and make your alterations... Then after you are done, change the extention back to .bum and your set. I always make the bum files manually by changing the extention of a bitmap (.bmp) I never let poser make them anymore.
