Subject: Heavy, "Old Masters-type" draperies for backgrounds???

You know those ubiquitous heavy dark curtains you see in interior scenes? Sometimes they're drawn back to reveal another room or a view through a window....and that's the kind I'm searching for with zero luck..... 3D meshes would be best, but I'll soon be desperate enough to cut some out of a repro print in Photoshop and slap 'em onto a square with an alpha map! Help

bloodsong did some drapery work on his stand(s?) for "product placement" (think of crown jewels being displayed). A couple of guys did curtains, one of them may have been Joe Kurz. I think there is an openable (tie back) type of curtain in the MarketPlace. Remember that oriental carpets were too valuable to lay on the floor, so were often used as table covers... and possibly wall hangings. The draperies that you are looking for were usually black or red, and there was some symbolism involved (indicating wealth/nobility of sitter?). Carolly

I've been combing the Marketplace and FreeStuff off and on all day......sigh. After running multiple searches with every word I could associate with curtains, drapes, etc. etc., I discovered that the Search function Sucks! It turned up next to nothing, yet I managed to stumble across several meshes that should have come up, but didn't. Still haven't found one that can be drawn back, tho....Any recollection of who the maker was??

http://www.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=5654 these are by dke and Xena, these have tiebacks and can be drawn open or shot as well as... drapes by modepics and meediate http://www.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=5233 and curtains by meediate http://www.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=2529 hope that helps.

Thank you--I eventually found the first and last ones above, but they don't drape naturally, the way a heavy curtain would if you cinched it with a rope. One of the ones above does say it can "billow in a breeze" which would be good for another idea that I have germinating, but they only show it hanging straight(?) I may just get one of the three and coerce myself into trying those (scarey-looking) magnet deformers! (I'm a big chicken about learning new Poser tools !!#!) The fabric needs to be 'weighted' to make it fall right (I think...somebody tell me if I'm approaching it all wrong, please!)

Pat, I found all 3 at the links mentioned. The first one just doesn't drape... it flows in a nice arc, but fabric doesn't do that naturally. This is the sort of thing which will require a new mesh. The billowy one billows towards you, and would probably look better in an animation where the motion would be noticeable. I couldn't find either of the ones I had seen before. So, I'm wondering if they were at PropsGuide or 3dCafe. Search under "bloodsong" in freestuff, and you will find a couple of items. The drape prop had a broken link sign, which might be due to his domain name problem. 3dMenagerie has a direct numerical URL, which I wrote down before I started cleaning this room, so it will reappear next week. I hope. Considering the prop as I remember it, and the horse blankets and caparisons, he may be the best person to make an actual curtain-type drapery which looks like velvet. Carolly

Is this the effect you are looking for? This curtain consists, weirdly enough, of Poser hair, mangled, rotated, and generally fiddled with in Bryce. Poser hair makes great curtains. Peej
