When you can get Poser4 for this price...
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00005R4KY/ref%3Dase%5Fmacinfindcom/102-8201617-2180958

That has to be a big error on Amazon.Com's webpage...consider that after the sale it says Poser 4.03 product is free. I e-mailed Curious Labs regarding this.

It also states that it is not avaible, yet... but to keep checking... Let's know what CL has to say. Niles

oh, *&^%! It never fails. I buy a product at full price, and within a week or two they're giving it away free with Corn Flakes... Grr.... Morph

I see that Amazon are also advertising the Poser 5 and Propack handbook with a publication date of October 2002. Unfortunately it's by the same guy who did the Poser 4 Handbook... John

Morphy, That Amazon ad for Poser 4 may contain a typo or two. I checked it, and with the rebate coupon, that would indeed be free... which arouses my suspicions. Neither Amazon nor CuriousLabs would be making money on the transaction, so all the shipping and handling costs involved in moving product around would be losses. (The usual shipping and handling fees charged by these companies really don't cover the handling, even using robotic squirrels as packers.) If you search the threads under the author's name, you will find some scathing commentary on the books he has "written". I doubt if he will sell many copies of his newest effort to this community. Hi Carolly. I admit I'm torn. I'd love to see Poser 5. But if they're going to start giving P4 away (or even selling it really cheaply), that makes my heart sink, because I presume it means there'll be no cheap upgrade for existing users. Otherwise everyone would grab the cheap P4, then upgrade, rather than buying the full-price product? I'd feel badly about this practice at any time - It smacks of disrespect to existing customers, IMO - but I feel particularly badly about it, having just bought P4 and the Propack... (so now I probably won't be able to afford P5. Ouch) And I actually bought that wretched P4 handbook. A total waste of cash and trees! I wish I'd discovered this place first! John

This listing on Amazon is an error on Amazon's part. Morphy, I agree with you completely, if this were an actual price that Poser 4 had been reduced to, I'd be upset as a customer as well. Just for reference, we sell product to Amazon at a far higher price than what is listed here, to the point where they would be losing over 150$ for each copy they sell. We're going to follow-up with Amazon and find out what is happening. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Steve Cooper Curious Labs

an update- Amazon is fixing this listing as I type this, and their site should reflect the correction shortly. Thank you Niles for letting me know about this issue. Steve Cooper

Morphy I can highly recommend the poser book by Rik Schrand. Poser 4 Pro Pack F/X & Design is the name, just under 400 pages and comes with a cd, I've had the book for a couple of months and take it everywhere with me. Rob

Also, the issue about the book has been covered in this forum before; if I remember correctly, it's PR from the publisher, and should not be considered a hint as to the release date. OTOH, if kupa wanted to drop a hint, he said knowing there was no chance of it happening...

Rob, yeah, I'm about half-way through the Rik Schrand book. At the moment, I'd be inclined to highly recommend it to all Poser users regardless of whether they have the Pro Pack or not. And (unlike the other book) there's actually GOOD stuff on the CD. I LOVE that gremlin! John
