You left out something important...what is your Operating system? If its Win98/Me you've very likely exceeded what its memory management can handle (actually, 768 is too much for Win98/Me to handle regardless of what you're doing). 16 figures is a lot, then add the scenary, textures, etc. and you've basically overwhelmed your OS. I installed XP and all render choking by Poser vanished. NT based systems are infinitely better at managing memory and I'm glad I upgraded if just for Poser's sake.
