Dwmdesigner, did you have the Poser 4.03 update installed before? If not, then that was your problem. By the way, you don't need to backup all those folders when you uninstall Poser. They remain behind. Trust me, I've done it many times. If you want to be safe, always backup your folders, frequently. *** There is one other situation where Poser won't run. I found this out the hard way. We have a small network at home. My wife was gone for 3 weeks, so I turned off her computer. Poser just wouldn't load. Poser gave me no error message! I reinstalled Poser out of desperation, and it still wouldn't run. Then I turned on my wife's computer, and Poser ran! Poser checks your network to see if you have other copies of Poser (with the same serial number) running on the network. My wife doesn't even use Poser. But Poser refused to cooperate because it couldn't check my wife's computer. That pretty much sucks since I can't save electricity. But you learn to live with it.
