why cant i download the thing i just bought??? its the first thi g i have purchased and im already having problems. and yes, it is downloadable. the only way its available is by download.

terminusnord ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:48 PM

I'm stuck in the same situation. I think there is a glitch in the software or something, because the store sent me a download link, yet the link on the page just goes back to the store. I just posted to the marketplace forum about this. Hopefully they can resolve it soon!

hauksdottir ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:48 PM

OK, did you buy it from DAZ, or from the Marketplace here? If from DAZ, you get a few minutes in which to download immediately, and they automatically send you an email with links to download it. You get 72 hours, I believe. Your order history also goes on record with them, if there are problems later. If from here, scroll down to the bottom when they confirm the purchase and there should be a link. You ought to have a couple of days to get your item. Also, you have a member page where you can see everything you have ever purchased from here, and I think you can download items later as well. If from elsewhere, we'd a bit more information to help you. Carolly Carolly

its not a problem with my cable, i know that :) there isnt even a link for me to click on is what the problem is. i dont know whats going on, could it be because its my 1st purchase??? they have that credit card number thing, ahhhh i want this sooo bad...

terminusnord ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 11:02 PM

Musicat, I think you have a different problem altogether. I'm just not getting a valid link to download, and no reply from store@renderosity.com either for some reason. I have tried both the link in the purchase confirmation mail, and sending my credit card 800 # to the store address. My download page still has no download link on it. I think there is a glitch in the store software, or the ebot is out to lunch. -Adam

KingNuthing ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 11:53 PM

ya i think i have the same problem as you... under where it says "download?" there is nothing, no link, no button, nothing. i have already sent my 800 # to renderosity and no reply about that yet. grrr, i dont know.

Kiera ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 1:03 AM

Your first purchase must be approved by Renderosity. After your first purchase is accepted, all further purchases are immediate.

terminusnord ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 1:12 AM

I don't think that's it. The email clearly states that my card has already been charged. they're clearing not waiting to evaluate whether or not it's a good or legit card, their just not delivering the goods. And what is the 800# going to get them anyways? they really need confirmation from ME that I intended the purchase. My CC company isn't going to confirm or deny my intentions, and they sure aren't going to try to reach me at work over a $10.00 charge and then call renderosity back. it's all just weird. I shop online everywhere, including for my new computer, and I've never encountered this BS before. I mean, this is a $10 purchase! I'm not buying a home here. -Adam

Right Kiera, then after that, if you click into Renderosity as signed in (remember me check-mark) just click on "marketplace" and then "purchases", then you're there and can download the same purchase any time.

Kiera ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 2:10 AM

Ohhhh, I see. Well, best thing is to mail renderosity, post in the customer support forum, and wait until they answer. I am sure that Clint and Jeff are sleeping right now but they are good about getting back to you ASAP.

I am also having a problem but a little different. Just purchased Edo and go to download it and it gets half way and just stops. Everytime. I am on cable modem and it is taking FOREVER to try to get to this. I have never had this problem before but I am sure all will be fixed soon.

at least you can download some :)

terminusnord ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 10:36 AM

I got a reply from Clint about this issue. He explained that for each first time buyer, the final confirmation step in the sale is processed by a HUMAN, during business hours. Of course this is not what you expect in an online store. I think they need to fix this process in two ways: 1. For first time buyers, send ONLY the "First Time Buyer" email, not the confirmation email that I got first. The confirmation email is useless because it goes to a page with no link to download. I tried all kinds of things to get this confirmation email to work, and just got frustrated with it, BEFORE receiving the first time buyer email. 2. The "First Time Buyer" email needs to explain that you're waiting for a human response. the entire sales process is automated by the server and ebot up to this point, and there's nothing explaining or even suggesting that there will be a delay in this last confirmation step. the email just says to send your credit card 800# to store@renderosity.com and your download will be activated... IMHO, the whole 800# verfication step should just be removed. I've never encountered such overkill security measures in an online store before. And I was spending $10!! -Adam

terminusnord ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 11:16 AM

Musicat, PayPal is different. PayPal is not an online store selling $10-$30 software models, it's a financial institution handing millions of dollars in bank transactions every day. I think for Paypal this level of security is appropriate. Appropriate is the key word here. For the Renderosity store it's way overkill... next they'll be asking me to send a DNA sample and photocopy of my passport just to buy a new vicky texture... I also don't see how 911 makes extra security while buying 3D models an "infamous necessity". Your reference to 9/11 and "better safer than sorry" just sounds cliché to me; not really addressing the issue here. -Adam

terminusnord ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 1:54 PM

I'm not saying these things didn't happen, I'm just not getting what any of this has to do with the level of credit card checking done at the Renderosity store... are you somehow trying to imply that terrorists are fraudulently buying poser props for subversive purposes? I just don't see the connection here. -Adam

CelestialBadger ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 3:21 PM

Really...How will a terrorist use a 3D mesh as a weapon of mass destruction? What you're saying about a July 4th attack isn't really answering that question... Also, the country has been on "high alert" ever since 9-11 and the FBI has been saying about every other day that there will be another attack. And it hasn't happened yet even though they keep saying it will.

ardvarc37 ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 4:53 PM

well I really hope they don't attack me with Super Poser soldiers right through the internet and my computer!!!!!

terminusnord ( ) posted Wed, 26 June 2002 at 4:58 PM

Dude, you better unplug your modem now, didn't you know the country is on high poser alert!!!

...Just minding my own business, trying to render a new image, when all of a sudden... No kidding guys! This could happen to you!

KateTheShrew ( ) posted Thu, 27 June 2002 at 10:56 AM

Ok, if I remember correctly, the verification of first time buyers has nothing to do with 9-11. It's the result of people using stolen credit card numbers to purchase products in the marketplace. Personally, I think more places should adopt this sort of procedure. Then maybe I wouldn't still be trying to figure out who the heck ordered Giants tickets on MY credit card (I'd cut my card in half before I'd pay for Giants tickets - Go A's! Yankees Suck!)
