Subject: Big marketplace problem

terminusnord ( ) posted Tue, 25 June 2002 at 10:40 PM · edited Mon, 05 August 2024 at 6:35 AM

I just made my first purchase in the marketplace. I managed to get around the first obstacle "Security Failure. Data decryption error." by using netscape, but now I can't download my purchase. I got an email telling me my card was charged, and a download link, but the link goes to a page with no visible links or buttons to download the item. The link of the item name just brings me back to the store!!! A few minutes later I get another email "First Time Buyer" instructing me to reply to store@renderosity.com with more credit card info. This is a strange request, but I comply but get no reply. I send it again. Again waiting, no response via email this time either; and no update to the download page! (yes I refreshed the cache). What is the deal? -Adam

Hi Adam, Thats not a problem with the MarketPlace but rather a security issue for first time purchases. All future Credit Card purchases will be available for immediate downloading. I have enabled your pruchases for downloading. Clint

OK. I was just getting a bit frustrated, and this system "feature" was a point of misunderstanding on my part. The whole sale process was automated up to this point, but the last step seemed just not to work. There was nothing in either of my confirmation emails to indicate that the purchase was going to wait for human approval--it simply said to confirm the info, and the purchase would be activated (presumably immediately, as one would expect when dealing with email bots). I think in light of my frustration (which can't be unusual), the "First Time Buyer" email really needs rewording to clearly indicate that real people are processing the last step of the sale, not the server. -Adam
