just to clarify, fonts in photoshop 6+ are already vector, as are some of the tools themselves. 5.5 and below, best to add your text in illustrator or something similar. Best to add it in illustrator no matter what in my opinion as it tends to handle text better, but, fonts in PS are actually resolution independant until rasterized. also, mess with the crisp, strong, smooth anti-alias options as well.
