Well, have you though of dual boot the system. one to run win2k for render and win98 for the older games abd utilities.

All I know is that I got DAZ high res textures for Vicky at the time I was running win98se for the same thing, my kid's games and other programs that people said will not run on win2k. The system had 512mg of ram, 8mg video and 40gig Hard Drive at the time and I'd lockup on rendering. So I call DAZ and CL both and both say to upgrade to win2k. I did, the games and programs that "will not run on win2k" did just fine and I render with two and three high res texture now. I did upgrade the video to 64 meg agp and add a two hard drive.

Now can you tell about you system Memory, Hard Drive (Size and free), Video (Memory and Make), and Operating system and it's pacth. How long are you wait on the lockup in time?
