What an inspirational bass-player he was. Years ahead of his time technically, he was the benchmark which many bass players aspired to. I'm a musician myself, one who learned 'the bass' playing along to Who (and others!) tracks... finding new and wonderfully complex, moving and sometimes impossible bass lines in nearly every song all played by John Entwhistle with a relaxed ease and competance which still sounds fresh and impressive 20 years later.
