I tend to use either the old Adobe Premiere LE that came with some hardware or other that I bought years ago or I use Jasc Animation Shop 2 that came with Paint Shop Pro 6. For sticking short animations together the PSP app will do it fine so long as the file isn't too terribly large (I just finished a 144 Meg avi of 201 frames and it pushed my machine to the limits but I got it done and converted down to 11 megs in the Jasc product).
