Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Hi thanks Genny but I'm saving my pennies to get vue, I tried the demo but it can't save so after spending an evening playing the computer crashed and I lost it all....I gave up! but what I meant was, I have both the magazine copy of cinema4, and a real copy of bryce 3d, but rendering in bryce if I have a big pic would take forever just retexing everything. someone suggested povray but would I have the same problems, or is there some way of taking objects/figures/props textures and everything else. thanks Dave
I don't know about the other programs you mentioned, but Vue does it all. All you do is save your Poser figures, scene, what-ever as a PZ3, and import it into Vue. Everything is there, objects/figures/props, and all the textures. Just like Bryce, Vue takes a long time to render, I don't think there is anyway around that one. As far as your computer crashing, Vue has updated it's patches several times since the release of the program, so possibly, it would have remedied this? I don't know if you like to enter contests or not, but I think one of the ones at PoserPros is giving away a copy of Vue as a prize.........You may want to consider trying that. What do you have to lose, and you get a $10.00 Daz gift certificate just for entering? Go to the contest forum for more info. (: Take care and I am sorry I couldn't be more help. Genny
I'm rather partial to LightWave, but that's only because I have the academic versions for both platforms. I've played with Vue v2 (but haven't upgraded to v4), and have beta-tested Ozone (e-on software's atmospheric plugin for LW). Vue is FAR easier to learn than LightWave, but LW is FAR more powerful. It all depends on what YOU want to accomplish, NOT what is in vogue or what others think is best. -scara

There is a Poser PZ3 to POV utility at the link attatched here. It will move a Poser scene, including lights and cameras and materials into for rendering in POVRay. Poser can export RIB files which can be rendered using BMRT (do a google search) or other Renderman compliant renderers. The easiest way to go to Max or Cinema is probably using the plugins in ProPack. Personally, I don't think any of these is magic. Like anything else, you need to know the tool to get the best out of it. I've seen some stunning Cinema4D renders. I've also seen some darned good ones rendered in Poser alone. With the right combination of lighting and setup, Poser is a lot better at rendering than many people credit it with being but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen done by some evry talented people."Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance." - H. L. Mencken

Hi I've read several threads lately about using other software to render poser figures in. I wondered what the best way of doing this was and how do I do it? Thanks Dave
