Subject: I hear a lot about OBJ, what exactly is it?

The OBJ format originates with Alias Wavefront I think. My version of 3DSMAx doesn't support them, but it is ancient (2.5). Maybe the newer versions support obj, and if they don't, I'm sure you can get a conversion plug in.
