Hi Guitta, It all boils down to time zones. As you probably know, the earth is divided into time zones, which are bands that normally flow from the north to the south pole. These bands are defined as the shift in the start of the day due to the time the sun rises in a particular part of the world. Because of time zones, you don't normally have a situation where it is the dead of night at 9:00 AM in the morning. Everyone starts the day with the sun rising and ends the day with the falling. Daylight savings time is related to this, since it is a system that maximizes the amount of daylight there is during the winter months(at least in the US). During the winter, days are shorter, so the clocks are turned back an hour to allow people to have as much light during the day as possible. In the summer, when the days are longer, the clock is pushed forward an hour. So it is all related to the way our planet is shaped and its relation to the sun. Hope this answers the question...
