Howdy... What about the Poser2 Low res figures which come with Poser? The obj file for one of these has the line "# 2242 elements" which may be too many... but you could export the posed figures into a modelling app and reduce the poly count further. Hell... the obj files are only 300K or so, so I guess you could have a hundred of so of these babies in a scene before straining the machine. And they;re already clothed! But it might be better to go for using 2d faces textured with transparency maps for the distant figures... Saves on resources! H:)
