Subject: Poser Mover4 OSX - can't find pzzs or pz3s AGAIN!!!

scotttucker3d ( ) posted Wed, 24 July 2002 at 1:09 PM · edited Fri, 29 November 2024 at 4:29 AM

Steve, I just upgraded to the mover4 animation pack over the internet. My new working copy of Vue4 with the 'find pz files' fix was overlaid with the install of Vue Mover4 and now the Poser import is once again BROKEN. I assume Mover4 put new things in Vue4 and 'unpatched' what we fixed. Am I safe to re-apply you patch over the existing Vue4 app or do we need yet another patch so Vue4 can also work with Mover4??? I am getting rather irritated now - since Mover4's entire REASON for being is to import Poser animations and of course it can't even find my OSX files... Please help me - this is getting ridiculous... Scott

Scott, close Poser before you import a pz3 file into Vue. Otherwise you always will get a "cannot find" message. Guitta

I know about that one Guitta - Poser was closed when I tried both a pzz file and a pz3 file. This is the same OSX problem we had before Steve sent us a fix only now it happens with Mover4 in OSX. This thread talks about it: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12368&Form.ShowMessage=789352 He issued a fix in another thread and it used to work. Now Mover4 has broken that fix. I'm getting sick... Scott

Don't get sick again, Scott. Write to Syteve. I hope he is not at Siggraph, but I think he is at e-n in Paris:-) Guitta

Oh crap - I forgot about Siggraph - LOL. Lately Steve has been responding better when he visits this board. I hope he see these messages like he did for our last fix. This way is faster than writing him. thanks Guitta - I'll try not to get sick again : ) Scott

My guess is that if you reinstall Poser 4/ProPack in classic mode, vue will find it. That is what I did and it works. Of course you have to reinstall patches, charachters etc..... -Paul

Paul, Steve issued us a workaround Vue4 replacement app so we didn't have to reinstall all poser from classic, etc. I think we will just need another one of these patches for the OSX version of Mover4 and Vue4.1. Hopefully Steve will check in from Siggraph and see my pleas. Scott

Paul - what you said about the Classic install reminded me that I already did do that on my ibook. So I installed Mover4 there as a test and sure enough it works. This machine will be my workaround, but we sure need the same kind of patch we got for 4.1 so we don't have to do massive Classic reinstalls of Poser, characters, and patches. Mover4 works well on that ibook. It is great to have all the Poser animation intact and then be able to apply all of Vue dynamic motion, etc to the character. I haven't tested rendercow but that is next. I will post a quicktime movie here when I get my first results - but it is starting to look good now. Steve still needs to make us a patch to allow non-Classic installs of Poser like he did for us with the original 4.1 patch, but I am liking what I see now that I can import the poser animations. I'll post an anim when I get the full rendercow working. Thanks for reminding me about the Classic install workaround. Now I won't be sick Guitta : ) Scott

Scott, Cool, glad it works for you now. Can't wait to see an animation you created with it. -Paul
