Gebe, I have a question and not sure if you can answer it. I was looking at this quote from e-on:"Distributed network rendering of animations." Now that sounds pretty clear that is just for animations. What I am wondering is, did you see something that showed the single image was being split between the computers, or is it possible that that both computers rendered the same image? Maybe the program was confused, it knows to do rotate on the frames, but when only one frame, maybe they both did it? Please know I am not trying to doubt you here, just very curious. :)

Also there seems to be two features of rendercow. "
Multi-processor RenderCow rendering engine" This one sounds like it means it can use both processors in one computer(if you have a multi proc system and have xp-pro or nt/2000) I wonder if that right there could also work for single images. :)
