Ah, but he is asking for a "western style" saddle! Most horses ridden by cowboys were mustangs, quarter-horses, saddlebred, morgan, and other fairly compact breeds. (They needed to be able to survive off of scrubland.) A western-style saddle has a high cantle and bent metal piece for looping a lariat around once you've nabbed your steer (or whatever 4-legged demon is on the other end of the rope). It is a fairly comfortable saddle for riding all day (given that human legs are not naturally curved to fit around a horse's belly), however... I have a hard time imagining the great draft horses under a cowboy's knees. Well, maybe... if he was on the lead horse of the Budweiser wagon! Carolly
