For close-ups, so they must be highly detailed. The only so-called 'bumblebee' I've found is hairless and slender--the ones I'm looking for are incredibly fat and very hairy. I don't mind paying for them, since realistic ones are needed, but I've combed all the model sites that are in my bookmarks, with no luck at all....help, please!

I can second Genny's recommendation. Brycetech's critters are extremely well put together. (Use the dials, not the mouse, though!) DAZ also has a bee, but this one is fatter and furrier and more ferocious-looking (and it would be easier to coat her back legs with pollen and pixeldust). I do not own Ken's hummingbird. I'm not sure where it was offered for sale (since I knew it was out there). IIRC, it was a prize in a contest more than a year ago. DAZ has a songbird by Anton which looks quite nice, and can be sparkled up a bit in the map or the lighting. Sometimes modelers take down their older work. It may not be representative of their current skill or they want to fix it or they need to clear space on the server or their bandwidth usage resembles the steppes after the invading hordes have twice passed. Thank you both for responding, but that bee looks so very different from the ones buzzing all over my backyard every day....maybe I have a unique kind?! The one above looks a lot like a honey bee, rather than a bumblebee, to me. Mine are very round (fat) and have much, much more hair and are pale yellow and black striped. They look comical as they move from flower to flower---so fat and drunken on nectar that it seems impossible that they can stay airborne at all! Tried to reach EmpKen by email, but the address Jaybutton had is apparently an old one and he's never been logged on for IM when I've checked..........Any more ideas??

my honey bee would have to be textured to make it a bumble bee. It's a wonder someone hasnt already done that. :) BT

Patricia, I have the same bees in my yard. Unfortunatley, I have never seen a model of one anywhere. Sorry.

I have a bumblebee on my archive somewhere, I think I bought it from 3dc, along with a couple of butterflies and a flower. It isn't hairy, and a pig to pose, but I will try to sort out who made it and let you know. I use Brycetechs honey bee more, but then My other half is an apiarist. He doesn't approve of Rbee for some strange reason.
