hi lady I work in a hospital as well..and this is how they look where I work. brown plastic mattress (hides all the nasties and easy for housekeeping to clean) and they had that waffle look (not quite as pronounced as mine)..but they keep thos blue diaper-like absorbers on the sheets to soak up all the wonderful body fluids (and pad the waffles) however, osha would never pass my bed..the corners are too sharp :P heh
