Thanks for being a reasonable Mac user who actually has used modern Windows OS's. (Now I'm sorry I blasted you on that more recent thread on UNDO's, but hey, you drew first blood over there.)
"Poser is a real exception. Software releases from all major graphics software companies ship simultaneously for Mac and Win. Mac users certainly aren't used to waiting for anything. The only software genre that tends to debut on Win or be Win-only are games."
Yes, I agree, pretty much all the great stuff by Adobe (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) comes out on both at the same time.
But I'm referring to the massive amount of quality software that just doesn't even come out for the Mac (or is significantly delayed). I'm not talking about games either, that's not even worth talking about as almost every Mac user knows ... don't get a Mac if you're a gamer.
Mimic did finally come out, but there are so many apps here in the Poser community that don't come out for the Mac (The Tailor, Poser2Bryce, most of the cool Python apps, etc.) Then when you start branching out into audio (as you mentioned), you've got: SoundForge, Powertracks Pro, etc., etc. 3D apps, are obviously dominated (less now thanks to OSX I imagine) by the Windows platform. But what a lot of people don't realize is, so is everything else .. from web apps to video editing (does FC Pro do realtime yet?) and even graphics apps.
Honestly, it all comes down to the freedom of choice. Windows allows you to have choices that you simply can't get with a Mac. The selection of software is breathtaking. And geez, don't get me started on hardware and the long history of proprietary methods at Apple, and the years without pre-emptive multi-tasking ... oy!
As far as the mice, the only thing is, don't you have to run third-party software to get the functionality? It's built-in (and has been for about 8 years) on the Windows platform. (I NEVER understood THAT about Apple ... that and having to drag an icon to eject a disc. Everybody has to admit both of those are pretty stupid.)
The big argument I (still) hear from Mac users is "they are so much easier to use." I've used Macs extensively (both in a tech-support job at NASA, and for web design as a sub-contractor) and I found them to be quite the opposite. There are just so many things in Windows (even Win95) that just allow you to perform circles around a Mac and be so much more effecient -- including, of course, 2/3-button functionality for the past 8 years. I don't know, maybe they've made serious strides in this area with OSX.
But the point is (and I swear I'm done after this) ... to each his own I imagine. But I just get tired of hearing Mac users slam the Windows platform (as if its a given), then gripe about software not being released (and I'm not just talking about P5) or being a delayed release.

PS: It doesn't help that I'm a gamer, but even if I wasn't, there's just no way, especially with an NT-based kernal with an extremely user friendly interface.
