you could say it's quite common ;) reinstalling poser won't make any difference to addon rsr files, I've read about people reinstalling 3-4 times only to find the problem still there, upgrading to propack would cut down on the problem a bit tho as propack uses the obj file directly & doesn't make or use rsr files.
