first thing i would do is to defrag the hd where WINXP is sitting on( normally C) second: look for the settings of your swapfile,normaly the size is set by XP( dynamicaly), but i have better experiences with a fixed size.I have 512 mb ram and the swapfile is set to a fixed size of one gig. where you find all these setting i cant tell you,i have german xp and all these things have different names here But i hope this helps
