A neighbor just told me of going through this with a group of friends over a decade ago - one died miserably and way too young of lung cancer. My neighbor was one of three other smokers in the group who pledged at his funeral to quit, as a tribute. He says they often wonder if they would be healthy and all still together if they hadn't quit.
