Subject: Question about scene size preferences and GROUND

I'm building a prop (involving some Python-driven movements, hence waiting for P5 to release) that needs to know the boundaries of the visible scene. There are several ways to set those limits, but it would be easiest to automatically use the size of GROUND as a basis. When making a fairly large outdoor scene, what do most folks do? Enlarge the GROUND to serve as a foundation for the entire scene? Or just ignore the GROUND and build the scene around the scale of the characters? (FWIW, I normally do the latter, but I don't know if this is standard behavior!)

I rarely use the ground plane for my outdoor scenes, as it seems to exhibit some strange shadow inconsistencies with transparent objects (see above).

Instead, I use one of the square props, or create my own landscape meshes.

I agree with Little Dragon. I always build my own ground with props, imported Bryce terrains, or with the Morph Terrain from Martin/Deimos.

Okay. That's what I figured, but I wanted to get some outside verification. Thanks!
