As a print designer who uses a scanner all the time - I think I know what you're problem is. Stuff that is printed in magazines (or anywhere for that matter) are printed with a screen. When a scanner scans something it scans with a screen. The 2 screens together create the moire pattern you're seeing. To get around it you need to use a 'descreen' (there should be a couple of options depending on your scanning software - 72/85, 133, 150 etc - try 133lpi). This should help. If you still get a slight pattern and are using Photoshop, then use the despeckle filter. This should help. Any more questions just ask. Guarie
