Subject: Setting all parts to white?

Does anyone have a trick that sets all the colors of a figure to white with one or two clicks of the mouse? Right now the only way I know of doing it is to set each piece to white one at a time. And my fingers are about to fall off. Applying textures is a little easier. Just check the apply to whole figure. Then uncheck it and replace the few pieces that don't use the texture with the proper color. Any way of doing something like that for setting the color for all the parts of a figure? ScottA

I just re-saved my characters as "bleached" versions after having to do this a few times I'll have to re-do this now that I've actually figured out how to use the Add New Figure key... :-)

Try wiping the color references off the end of the cr2. It could be a little quicker than doing it inside Poser. -JH.

I'm not sure I follow you Jeff. You mean go into the materials section of the CR2 for each part and delete the KdColor, KaColor and KsColor lines? That's a lot more clicking than what I'm already doing. ScottA

No, just wipe all that color info off the end of the cr2.

I don't want to lose the materials. So how do you suggest I go about wiping all of them out without losing the materials? I suppose I could use the find and replace function to find the word "color" and replace it with nothing. I've used that method in the past to delete things with some success in the past. ScottA

Just tried it. And it works pretty good. 1.) I saved the Poser dog to the new library with the name test 2.) I replaced the word "color" in the cr2 with nothing 3.) when I open the test figure. it opens with a random color. 4.) setting the color to any part causes the other parts to the same color. in this case white. For some reason. The nose and eyes weren't affected the same way. And had to be set up seperately. But this will definately reduce the mouse clicking when I create new figures in the future. Thanks for the Idea Jeff. ScottA

Jeff is telling you that if you delete the materials and preset materials entries in the cr2, you will not lose them. They are a part of the obj. Poser will rewrite the entries into the cr2 to match what is in the obj. Poser just does not delete obsolete entires. That is why there are ofter near duplicate materials or strange ones like "shirt" that do not do anything. Someone adopted a P3 cr2 to a P4 figure and the P3 materials came alone for the ride. Deleting them does no harm. Jaager

Doh! (scott slaps his head for being so stupid). Thanks for posting this Jagger. I already knew that. But for some reason. I completely forgot about that. I wonder if I'll remember my name tomorrow ;-). ScottA

All I did was set all the colors to white, then resaved the figure so it always comes up white. You only have to do it once. I did it with all the figures I use most often (i.e., P3 and P4 nude man and nude woman). I did that a long time ago, and it's saved me tons of time. Melanie
