They all look alike because the mesh never changes and people don't want to bother learning how to alter it. They see one pretty girl and assume every Vicky has to look exactly like that - as a result, we get legions of these interchangable "characters" whose differences are usually nothing more than slight variations in skin tone. IMHO, a real character package would have not only a texture but a face morph to go with it.
