If Autocad can do Illustrator files (filename.ai), Carrara will import high-resolution Illustrator files into the spline modeller (front view). Photoshop does this when you select a shape (2d object), create a work path from the selection with 0.5 - 2.0 tolerance, then export the work path as an Illustrator file.
