Well, I may be wrong about everything, other than the railroad thing, but I am absolutely, POSSITIVELY sure, that this is why, it is the way it is. Like I said before, my husband is building a set of wagon wheels, per specs that are made from original wagon wheels of the past, so.............I don't know where anyone else got their information, but, when you can see the end result, IN REAL LIFE, then there can be no Doubts.
