Just get the player. Last on the page of link, I think, is what you need. (I'd avoid the one that gives you the Pro version with advertising. It doesn't uninstall well.)

I think I can play in the IE Media Bar because I have a DivX player installed, which also installed a plug-in for IE. Probably the Windows Media Player just can't use it for whatever reason. Otherwise, it's all a major mystery.
