Actually, the manual is a great tool for finding the right answers - either through experimentation (it always points you in the right direction, but rarely takes you far enough) or somewhere else (by showing you how to ask the questions you need answered). In and of itself, it's only useful for finding out the absolute basics, AFAICT. And it makes a decent paperweight.
