Guessing again, but is it a PATH problem? Have you tried changing $PATH and $PYTHONPATH so they're appropriate for what you're trying to use. If that's the problem, you could write a script to set the paths for whichever you want to use at the moment. I think they can't both be on the $PATH and both be happy is what I'm trying to say.
