I think the two things you need to do is bone it so its poseable and texture it so it looks good. In ppp, you can select a similar bone structure if you like then adjust to fit your model. For me, using a single geometry that is welded works best, but on a comples figure model that's not necessarily a versatile thing. The bones don't necessarily go in the same location as real bones. Look in the setup room for existing models to see how certain bones are offset in order to get more lifelike poses/animations. If you choose to have different body parts, and I hope so, add a few bones to match the geometry relationships. remember, no three way intersections in your meshes. Texture can be done in UVmapper and brought in. You have all you need now to finish this off.
