Deadman, if you don't have Bryce or vue or Poser or any of the 3d apps, you can still have fun like that image you posted by getting the free Terragen and the free Gimp. Terragen creates some realistic looking landscapes (just cruise the terragen gallery here or the terragen forum). Gimp is a freeware paint program that has a lot of options.
