I can honestly say that in the few months I've been a mod I have never seen or hear of an instance where the staff here have read members PRIVATE IMs. There are occasions where members will present IMs to the staff as evidence of harassment or other complaints but never a situation of 'digging through the files' or intercepting IMs.
