Subject: Photoshop 7.0.1 update from Adobe

I got that update from Adobe and when trying to install it, it can't find the Photoshop 7 .exe file. There was a note on the abode site that said if the updater couldn't locate the file, reinstall Photoshop 7 and run the updater again. I've done that 4 times already and the updater still can't locate the .exe file even tho it is there. What's up with this?

do you put the software in a folder other than the default one assigned by the installation? Maybe that's it...? i dunno, worth a try

Oh, yeah, I let PS install where it wanted to install it. After installation, I ran the update and even tho it showed the correct folder, it said it couldn't find the photoshop exe file.

I had that problem too. You can see the Photoshop.exe right there in the C:Program FilesAdobePhotoshop 7.0 folder but it says it can't find it. Guess it's not looking too hard.

dreamer101, So glad to see someone else is having the same problem and it's not just me.

Has anyone successfully done the update? Or maybe there is an update for their update.

I read somewhere that the update checks for serial numbers that adobe consider pirate copies. If it detects one it won't work. Mine updated fine. If your copy is all genuine I'd get in touch with adobe as that seems to be the problem.

I'm awaiting word back from Adobe. Mine is original and shouldn't have had a problem.

Dreamer, we had a problem at the office with the update install on one of the designers system but that was due to the user being logged in as herself and not as "Administrator" when she ran the install.

Could that be the "wrinkle"?

I too have heard about the serial number issue with this updater install but i don't think it is the answer your problem.

Let us know what Adobe says.

see ya,

No problem with my update. Hmm.

Awwww ... thanks retrocity. I'm using WinXP and wasn't logged in as Administrator when I tried the update. I don't have many blonde moments but DUH! you caught one of mine. BTW ... You were faster than Adobe. LOL
