Virtualsite asks the question of the hour: "Why does everything we do have to deal with dragons and fairy wings???" I don't know if I should laugh out loud or cry in pain in response to this question, but I know I've asked the same one many times. I'm slightly hypocritical because I'm in love with the Millennium Dragon and have been known to stick butterfly wings on all manner of creature, but it surprises me that so many of us keep returning to the same sorts of post-Frazetta/post-Tolkein European-based fantasy motifs. I love that stuff too, as well as sci-fi, but I like the idea of a fresh challenge in the fantasy realm. Naked Vickie in a Temple is frankly tired, no matter how luscious a bod you give her. I want an Asian dragon, more complex than the well-known one that's already out there. I want creatures from Latin and African folklore. I know ... "go make one yourself," but I'm not yet that skilled. As for the MilKids, I'd buy 'em if there were more products out there for 'em, as others are saying. I'd also like to see a new version of them done as individual models, not derivative of others. What if, say, I want to do a skateboarding picture but don't need girls for this one image? Why should I have to buy the girls first just to buy a male kid model? IMO that's the rare example of not-so-great marketing from DAZ, whom I mostly admire. Also, while Mike and Vickie can be made to look somewhat "real," renders I've seen of the Mil Kids look very cartoon-y. The head-to-body ratio isn't natural. Don't get me wrong, they're cute, but they don't look like the offspring of M or V. As for outfits for them, I'd love to see more contemporary clothing styles in addition to all the Baroque and Old West misses and the Peter Pans and pixies. I hope this will be read as positive suggestions rather than needless bitching.
