Subject: How to hate CL !

I received my copy of Poser5 yesterday. None of the bugs mentionned in this forum has occured to me, after a few hours playing with the new Poser version and trying all rooms, I really had no problem ... except one : I own P4 and PPP in french version. Why? Because these are the only versions you commonly can get here in France. It has always been a real pain in ... since most downloaded stuff, including Daz stuff will install by default in the english named directories. Once you know that 'runtimelibrariesgeometries' is named 'runtimebibliothuesgeometries' in french you will understand that most downloaded cr2 files, while not even installing in the proper 'runtimebibliothuespersonnages' directory, are referring to a geometries directory that normally doesn't exist in french versions. So in - old - P4 times, I used to transfer a lot of things to the french named directories. Comming to P5, I carefully read the way how to link to your P4 runtime libraries. :-((( This doesn't work with the french versions of P4, since P5 only recognizes english named directories. Now I only have to transfer/copy back my P4 stuff to the originally english named directories, fiddling with cr2 files, because these refer to french directories names (or I have the 'Please locate file' message). I only hope CL with not make the same mistake with the french version of P5. The german version hasn't these kind of problems. As long I'm not sure of this, I will stick to the US version of P5. I hope Kupa and other members at CL read this message. Apologies for any language errors in this message, I'm frenchy. Robin.

why would you need to edit the .cr2s? just leave the .objs where they are and move the library items only. .objs are reference items and can stay put. 1. move the .cr2 to the new directory 2. have poser point to the new directory 3. open item in poser, poser reads the .cr2 and knows that the .obj is in the french directory. 4. you shouldn't have had to edit the library items in the first place. only move the .cr2, hr2, pp2...etc.

oh, and maybe you can create a batch file that will move the foreign language libraries automatically. If I remember my basic properly it wouldn't be that hard to do.

Attached Link: Text Pad

TextPad has a directory wide Search and Replace feature. It will change every instance of a text string in a folder, or across all open files. Really handy for fixing things like this. You could straighten this mess out literally in a few clicks. If you do any CR2 hacking this progie in priceless. Hello Shadowcat, hello Nerd, You're both right. I was programmer in a former job and of course I could program some little software, use TextPad or even make some Python scripting. Personnaly, I don't think that when you buy some software you should first use your programming or text editing skills to enjoy the product in it's full extent. Please understand I'm not complaining, I just mention a situation that could easily be avoided. But Ok, I will spend an hour or two to make some script that will copy my stuff to the right directories and will do the name changes in the files. And Shadowcat I have to edit my cr2 files if I want to give them to other users with a non french Poser copy. Robin.

actually the suggestion of a batch file was for kupa, that way all of the foreign lang. users can do this easily. Ahh, for sharing stuff, ok.
