Well, that would work, except that there is often a lot of detail-- say around the eyes-- that you would want to keep, and i would be about as much work to delete the unwanted stuff as it would be to trace the outlines in from scratch. It's such an obvious thing to want to do, I'm sure there's a way to do it, I just haven't found it yet.
