Regarding my entry, I agree about the tail lights, I was having trouble believing that myself. It was a trade off. If they were dimmer, they had no impact on the truck, so I just accepted the bright ground. I justified it to myself by calling Alien EM interference overloading the bulbs. =) Just out of curiosity, how much weight do you put into concept? Take for example most 20th century oil painting. It's hardly the type of work that the artist spent a lot of time on (compared to older paintings), but its concept stands on its own. Then of course, there's photography which is faster still, and ultimately computer art. I'm a big fan of realism myself, but I don't think realism is the be all end all of any art, much less digital. And I also believe that hours spent is no mark of quality. That's a question I've been meaning to throw out to the forum for a while. So there it is.
