Subject: To Poser5 users Please READ

I already posted this but nobody seems to have seen it,don't be mad,Thanks everyone.... I hope I am not mentioning a thread already addressed, but in my new Poser5 book"Walk Designer",is only mentioned once in the glossery on page 31 under splines, that's it!I tried to use it like I did for Poser4 but it does not work.I get an hourglass from WinXP(not the watch symbol as in Poser5,I also heard there is a way I can get back the walking guy instead of the watch, can I?) and nothing happens. What happened to the Poser figure guy walking to the right? When I click preview before rendering he walks but in slow motion. But when I click render It stays on the XP Hourglass. What am I doing wrong? Also when trying to run Walk Designer it FROZE up my whole, modern,up to date,PC! ARGH!P.S.And no I don't have the Patch yet, waiting for the cd to be mailed to me since it would take 5 hours to DL and my PC gets kicked off from crummy AOL if it sits idle.Grrrrrrrrr

Uhm sorry but I think YOU'RE the one not reading now G There has been replies to your previous thread (the second one og them) Perhaps the reason noone has answered is that noone knows? Doesn't necessarily mean noone has READ it, ya know ;o)

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA

in the patch is a special don for the walk designer perhaps that will help?

auralia ( ) posted Fri, 11 October 2002 at 2:03 PM

Before the patch, the walk designer was slow with the new figures. The patch should help speed that up a bit.

I guess the question is: is it just slow, or is it completely hanging your system? If it's just slow then the problem may be fixed (well, helped) by the patch. (It's too bad that you can't get the patch already, but at least there's hope for when you do get the patch). If it's hanging completely on your system, that's a different thing entirely, and you should contact CL's tech support, or write in a bug report.

What are the specs for your system? How long did you wait with the hourglass?

Good luck,
Auralia

WD works fine. Your machine is messed up. Probably full of all kinds of crap running in the background sucking up resources. Do you know how to format a HD? Did you get all the drivers on separate disks for each component on your system(modem,CD-R,etc.)? Did they give you a Windows CD. Or did you just get a recovery CD that has everything on it? ScottA

Ah,can we NOT play blame the PC?I have a MODERN,FULLY LOADED DELL that EXCEEDS the REQUIREMENTS for Poser5 on the box. That is all that is needed. So please don't talk to me like I am some kid on a Fisher Price PC.Thanks to the SERIOUS replys ;o)

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 12:50 PM

Lol! I can't help you. You're not ready for me yet. The interesting thing is. My reply was the ONLY one that would have actually helped you. Now that's irony. :-) Good Luck. ScottA

"My reply was the ONLY one that would have actually helped you." Not necessarily true. Artist3D previously stated he/she is awaiting delivery of the patch(es) from CL, which Auralia, amongst many others, have already suggested that it fixed some of the issues they were experiencing. Seems like someone is quite full of themselves to believe that their answer is the only correct one from the numerous ones that have been presented throughout the forum.

ScottA ( ) posted Mon, 14 October 2002 at 2:51 PM

Yes.......I'm quite full.. Thanks. ;-)

Full of what is the question, but best not answered publicly. :oP

I've got scientists working around the clock trying to find the answer.

LMAO.Anyway, saying it is the OS is an OLD and LAME excuse. If you READ my post you will see my OS is up to date, modern, and FULLFILLS the REQUIREMENTS on the Poser5 Box.Nuff said.CL needs to fix this program, not me do anything to my system.I am so sick of this crap.

Like I said. I can't help you. You're still in denial. I'd hate to see your face when I open P5 on my old PII266 unpatched and everything works. But hey. You KNOW it's not your system. Because Dude....You got a Dell. Bye. ScottA

I just re read this post and man are you one frustrated person.I am guessing you are about 16.

MachineClaw ( ) posted Thu, 11 December 2003 at 9:26 PM

1st time that I ran the walk designer it took about 15minutes of hourglass before it came up, after that it only takes less than 5mins each time. Poser 5 and XP Home here with 768mb ram. I think the 1st time you run walk designer something needs to setup and it can take FOREVER and seem that your machine is dead, poser has given up the ghost, but it really hasn't. that was my case. I uninstalled Poser 5 recently and threw on the latest Poser 5 patch and had to wait about 12minutes the 1st time and it was quicker after that, maybe 4mintues each time, was not much of an imporvement with the new patch really. all that being said, I've never gotten to do anything but a simple animation with Poser 5, not my thing so I never really worry about it. defraging, closing all other apps other than poser, freeing up memory etc the usual stuff helps poser 5, I generally run Poser 5 with nothing else running and the experience is workable. thats my take, maybe some help, maybe not. but poser 5 acts different on a LOT of machines, sometimes differently on the SAME EXACT machine, so don't say it isn't your PC it could very well BE Poser 5 AND your machine. worst case, write an email to Curious Labs tech support and see if they can help or walk you through any specifics.

Installing the SR3 should take care of it, it did for me. Not that it solved too many of the other problems.
