Subject: Dark - Light - In Between...?

Thanks for asking this question, Wolf. I'm on a PC. Macs and PC's do use different gamma settings. And things are REALLY messed up on Sun machines. I've calibrated my monitor with my printer, and I've gotten mostly good comments on my postings, but there is always the concern that what looks good on my monitor, looks like crap on everyone elses'. I've noticed that I lose some of the shadows from other folks', so maybe my monitor is adjusted slightly dark? [In your post above, I see no detail in the shadow under the shell. Under the right nostrule, I'm starting to lose highlight detail, but it is still OK. I know folks in the industry have been working on this problem. [Sending profiles along with the jpegs.] But I do not know the current state of the art. I'm sure Michelle ans Star would LOVE you to research it and post a small tutorial...
