We've had some debate in the forum concerning the capacity and look of the interface with respect to how proffessional it is. Ultimately I would say that the C interface is just as powerful as the RD interface with very few exceptions (in terms of being exacting and in terms of being practical). My 3D career started in Raydream as did a pretty large fraction of the other members who frequent this forum. I would say that Raydream was a very powerful piece of software and there are several aspects which I still believe were better than Carrara (much better depth of field, much better soft shadows). But ultimately there are several big things in Carrara now which make Carrara a bigger and better product. Bones, GI rendering, Faster rendering (speeds that crush the earlier RD versions, RD5.5 could start to be in the league of C but it was still behind C significantly), and a much deeper and more powerful shader engine are just examples of some of the things which are better. To add to that, it's a living piece of software with what I seriously hope and percieve to be a promising future. I personally consider the rendering speed all by itself to be a MAJOR advantage. Regardless of all of that, there are lots of Raydream users poking around in the forum here and if you have questions, I know we can help. -Kixsupercool.gif
