Hey that's my image! I am honored that you like my image. The soft-shadows aren't necesary all the time, but because I wanted to play with the overall brightness/contrast in PSP the light needed to be perfectly soft. If you don't need to increase the contrast you usually don't need soft-shadows. Rendering without soft-shadows goes 10 times faster if not 20 times.
