The advertising will stay on the free download page as far as I'm aware - to offset the cost of the bandwidth used by that page. The main home page (thank the gods) has been cleaned up, the banners removed and made to look more attractive. Yes, you're right it's MUCH more pleasant to look at. Hopefully now that the banners have gone and the content is more on display it'll encourage people to sign up where they've been nervous of it before. There is NO advertising inside the subscription area. NONE. But it's not easy to judge that considering how overloaded the home page was with banners.
